The inhabitants of the Plastic Islands are created from the assembly of everyday objects, mainly made of plastic or non-perishable materials, arranged in sequence, so as to give the entire piece anthropomorphic or zoomorphic features.


In order to make the compositions more animated and life-like, I have often added LED lights, as if to show that these apparently inanimate beings are instead provided with a bright and pulsing heart.




I imagined that the tangle of floating waste that forms the huge patches in the middle of the oceans would look like an indistinct heap of materials only to the most distracted eyes: the most attentive observers will be able to recognise a multitude of funny little creatures, living on an overpopulated continent, suffering from being over crowded and begging human beings not to produce any more waste.
