THE PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION

This is the extraordinary travel made by photographers Enrico Chiti, Emiliano Rinaldi, Roberto Roda, Simone Sabbioni, Luca Zampini and Nedo Zanolini, in search of the artist Elisabetta Farina who went to the Plastic Islands for inspiration and lost her way.

Once, in not-too-distant times, millions of billions of plastic waste, bags, bottles and other everyday objects were dumped into rivers by shortsighted humans.

Floating, the plastic debris reached seas and oceans. The currents carried the plastics and shuffled them, but they could not dissolve them. In the end, exhausted, the currents abandoned the plastics, accumulating them together in vast island archipelagos.

The Plastic Islands are alien worlds, where everything is made of used plastic: cities, rocks, flowers, butterflies, starry skies. Even the inhabitants are creatures born from plastic: sometimes they look like humans, sometimes they take quite bizarre forms.

They have light bulbs instead of hearts. Some humans, lacking in good taste indeed, find the Plastic Islands extraordinarily exotic, perfect for a luxury wedding or a romantic honeymoon.
